The Final Chapter.. Hopefully!

BEFORE AND AFTER!!

This is the end of my chapter, but I will still be checking my blog. Thanks for going through this experience with me, and if I helped any of you, then my goal was reached! The process was rough, but I couldn't be happier with the results. I now own 10 pairs of open toe shoes and wear them whenever the weather allows. I truly have Happy Feet!

Left Foot 4 Months After Surgery

The scars have decreased faster than I thought they would. I still put cocoa butter (Vitamin E) on them twice a day.

1.5 Months After Surgery

The picture on the left is my foot in the air & the picture on the right is my foot on the floor. I wanted to show the true placement of my toes. I'm so happy my doctor was right & they have relaxed! This is only 1.5 months after surgery, so my scars are very noticable. I keep putting cocoa butter (vitamin E) on them twice a day, & the scars have and will continue to fade.

The 2nd Pin Comes Out

At my 3 week check-up, my 3rd pin was removed. My toes still look very weird at this point. My doctor kept reassuring me that my toes will relax, because he saw the worry on my face!!

One Pin Comes Out

As I stated in my last post, my doctor wanted to stretch my toes. After looking at the placement of my 3rd toe at our 2 week check-up, he decided to remove that pin. *Pins aren't supposed to be removed until the 3rd week* Of course before I went through with my surgery, I did research on it. I saw reports of people having "floppy" toes after their pins were removed, so I was affraid that would happen to me. My doctor said "it SHOULDN'T be floppy.." (which didn't make me feel confident!)... but I went through with it anyways. When he removed it, my toe cracked a little bit, which was a good sign meaning that the bone was developed.

Now... THE LEFT FOOT!!!

This 1 week after surgery (the 1st time I saw my foot since the surgery). Needless to say, I was HORRIFIED when I saw my foot! I had my right foot done a year before, & I was expecting my foot to look like that. If you look at the pictures of my right foot, you can clearly see that it looks totally different! My doctor told me that he wanted to stretch my toes, so that's why they look like that.

I was curious as to why the recovery of my left foot was MUCH worse than the one of my right. I had a dream recovery of my right foot, but I had constant throbbing pains in my left toes.. which is because of the stretching.

11 Months After Surgery

It's almost been a year since my surgery, and I'm SO happy with the results! It looks MUCH better it person. My foot's so shiny because I have cocoa butter (vitamin E) on it to help reduce scars, & the flash from my camera bouncing off of it makes my foot look different, & shows off the scarring more. Believe me, the scarring is very minimal.

-As I'm writing this, my left foot is propped up because I just got it done! Pictures & updates of the journey with my left foot will be coming soon!!!

About 4-4.5 Weeks After Surgery

This was after the first time I got to wash my foot since the surgery! It was a little painful when the water hit it, but I was so excited to finally take a shower with 2 feet, that I didn't care! The dark spots on my toes are a mixture of the marker used before my surgery to mark the inscisions and dried up blood. I think it looks GORGEOUS!

3.5 Weeks After Surgery

THE PINS COME OUT!! Now.. if you notice.. there are a little set of pliers next to my foot. Yep.. you guessed it! That's what is used to take the pins out! No, I was no asleep or numbed during the removal. My podiatrist simply leaned the chair back, & pulled the pins out. It didn't hurt at all.. just felt a little itchy after the fact.

One Week After Surgery

This is the first time I saw my foot after surgery!! AAHHHH!! It was EXTREMELY swollen, the pins seemed super long, & all of the extra skin on my toes freaked me out! My doctor reassured me that it will shrink, & told me that my foot looks "gorgeous"!!
